Hello everybody, so after a one week orientation in Chicago, I am finally in South America. On Wednesday our flight from Chicago left at 3:30 with a connection in Atlanta. I have never been on such a large plane before. I was a little disappointed that we flew overnight because I did not get to see much out the window after taking off in Atlanta. However, being able to see Buenos Aires in the morning was definitely worth it. Right now, I have a week long orientation in Argentina before I move across the river to Uruguay. First off, Buenos Aires is HUGE! The city proper has about 3 million people and the larger metropolitan area holds about 12 million. Although it has been a little overwhelming, it has been very exciting as well. Also, it is really cold! Not so much in a sense of a Midwestern winter but coming from the humidity and heat of Chicago in August, the cold has been a surprise. The cold here reminds me of a cold day in November, no snow, a little damp and kind of chilly in the shade but pleasant if you're standing int he sun. So even though I'm in South America, I'm wearing multiple layers and mittens and gloves a lot. Overall, I am very excited to be here and look forward to all this year has to offer.
Ciao
